Harry Alexander is a contemporary dancer and movement director based in London.

About

Harry is a member of Michael Clark Company and Julie Cunningham & Company and was the winner of ‘Best Emerging Artist’ at the Critics Circle National Dance Awards in 2017.

He trained at Bird College before joining Michael Clark Company in 2010. He performed in Animal/Vegetable/Mineral, Come Been and Gone and To a simple, rock ‘n’ roll…song shows, touring North America, Europe and Asia and at the company’s home stage at the Barbican. He opened the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2015, danced at the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern in London and in the Whitney Biennial in New York.


In 2016 he joined Julie Cunningham & Company, performing in multiple works including the three-person show how did we get here? at Sadler’s Wells with Melanie Chisholm in January 2023. Of which a filmed version is currently being worked on.


He rounded off 2023 making another appearance on the main stage at Sadler’s Wells in the limited run of England On Fire, a show inspirered by Stephen Ellcock’s and Mat Osman’s book, produced by BalletBoyz.


Harry has danced choreography by Lea Anderson, Carlos Pons Guerra and Thick and Tight and in music videos for Tinie Tempah, Charlotte Dos Santos and Jorja Smith. He’s worked commercially with Jo Malone, Smythson, Penhaligon’s and MAC Cosmetics and with photographers including Tim Walker, Oliver Hadlee Pearch and Bruno Staub.

Movement Direction

Harry is also a movement director and coach working in fashion, choreography and on set with actors. He works with models to encourage and bring out their natural style and line to achieve beautiful images. He works with actors to refine their characters physicality, with each project tailored to the individual in question and their needs.

He’s collaborated as a movement director with photographers Rankin and Itai Doron, on visuals for Sam Smith and Spotify, choreographed for musicians such as Jorja Smith, and works closely with actors including Gwendoline Christie.
